Heavy metal is finally being allowed in the mainstream. Metal bands are selling out major concert arenas, are dominating the radios , and even have a station of on demand television. There are now several many popular metal artist.

Many metal bands from the beginning of metal are still around today. Iron Maiden make the news from time to time along with Black Sabbath. Anthrax released an album a short time ago. Bands like Metallica still make music and sell out concert tours.Do not forget about Pantera and Slayer. These bands are now allowed to show videos on television and are treated like starts.

The newer metal bands have changed the shape of metal music. They have added chorus that people can sing with and even song where most of the lyric are understood. Some of the newer popular metal artists include Godsmack, Killswitch Engage , Avenged Sevenfold, System of a down,. Hawthorne Heights, and Disturbed. These bands have lead several headlining tour through the country. These bands have also toured with on famous concert tickets including Ozzfest lead by no other then Ozzy Osborn. Other bands of note are Motorhead, Slipknot, In Flames, Morbid Angles, and Fear Factory. These bands have several album releases and have provided music for major motion picture soundtracks.

Metal is not just the screaming every things it is. There are actual lyrics behind the sounds and most of the lyrics have actual meanings. Metal is becoming more mainstream and accepted by all. That is allowing these bands and other artists in this genre to gain popularity and become popular metal artist.

2011 was an amazing year for R&B as we saw acts, both old and new, top the charts with hits that will always be remembered. While the basic R&B pop formula was there, we also saw a wave of experimental, new grooves that broke the barriers and forced us to reconsider the musical lines of R&B.

Soulful songs like “Rolling in the Deep,” by chart-topping Adele, brought back the nostalgic feeling of listening to our parent’s old soul albums, while introducing a modern pop vibe that made it one of the year’s most important singles. Of course it came at no surprise that the Black Eyed Peas continued their reign of musical genius this year and gave us some of the top R&B for 2011. With songs like “Just Can’t Get Enough” and “Don’t Stop The Party,” they continued to show off their diverse sounds, catchy beats and mind-sticking rhythms.

Of course you can’t talk about the top R&B for 2011 without remembering the club-blasting, sing-a-long, party anthem by Rhianna, “Cheers.” We’ve watched Rhianna’s musical transformation and growth reach it’s peak in 2011 and even watched her push the boundaries with her racy hit “S&M,” that showed off a little bit more of her edgy side.

Last but not least, we watched the entire music scene literally go “gaga” over the smash hit “Born this Way,” which celebrated uniqueness and individuality, making it a war cry for those who feel rejected by society and want to be heard. This song will continue to be one of the decade’s most influential and attention-grabbing songs produced.

Popular R&B Artist

R & B or rhythm and blues music first became known in the 1950’s. It began in the northern part of America like Chicago. Before long, other cities had caught the R&B fever. R&B is now considered one of the most influential music in the 20th century. This kind of music is typically associated with black pop. R&B later evolved into rock and roll.

The soul music of R&B has its roots on gospel music. The gospel mixes in Memphis is one example of soul music that influence the development of R&B music. R&B music is known for its combined jazz and blues style. This music style became widely accepted in the 1980’s after the fad for disco music died down.

The R&B soul music is known to stir passion in listeners. Popular R&B artist Aretha Franklin embodies the passion in R&B music. She has 20 R&B songs that ranked number one in the music hit list. Ms. Franklin is probably the best known R&B singer in our times.

Another popular R&B artist is Michael Jackson. When the disco era ended in 1979, the music industry found sobriety in R&B music. The R&B music helped people that time to re-discover their soulful roots. It was Michael Jackson’s album “Off the Wall” that turned R&B into mainstream by making it more pop music friendly.

R&B is predominantly a black pop song that helps inject classic soul into music. R&B music is at present integrated with other music styles such as rap and pop to generate more followers.

Possibly one of the most popular jazz artists ever is Louis Armstrong. This individual helped create modern jazz s how we hear it today. Of course, Louis Armstrong lived in a difficult time, but with the help of his music, he was able to bring joy to individuals, no matter of their race or location.

The popular jazz artist Louis Armstrong not only used his trumpet, but his raspy voice to create some of the best known jazz songs in the world. He was born in New Orleans in 1901, and lived through some of the toughest times of segregation and racism the United States has seen.

He rose to prominence in the 1920s and helped move jazz music from a group of improve individuals to solo performances. The popular jazz artist Louis Armstrong was able to jump the color barrier, as people from different races and backgrounds feel for his music. With the love of his music, he was able to gain access to many clubs and locations other African-American’s were not allowed to.

Even though Louis Armstrong has been gone for over 40 years now, his music still lives on, and it is still played in clubs all across the country. On top of this, many of his songs are brought back to life with new renditions from some of today’s most popular artists. He is one of the few musicians that is able to live the test of time, no matter how long he is gone.

It’s amazing to think that after nearly 50 years The Beatles still remain the top Popular Rock Artist in the world. While bands like Coldplay, U2 and Nickleback may score bigger weekly album sales, all pale in comparison to the attention, and the money, brought in by The Beatles. We are talking about a band that hasn’t come out with an original album for 35 years; and album whose #1′s greatest hits collection sold over a million copies in one week; and we are talking about a band who topped the news when they finally allowed their songs to be released on iTunes.

One thing that gets lost in all of the hysteria that surrounds the Beatles now a days (they have their own Vegas show) is that this all comes from a band that was deemed “dangerous” in the 1960s and 70s. While they were always a Popular Rock Artist, they were shunned by parents and chastised by religious groups. They were a band that caused near riots when John Lennon jokingly compared them to Jesus, and a band whose rather vague lyrics have caused much second-guessing from parents who didn’t like what they represented.

When you really think about it, it’s staggering to think about how big The Beatles truly are. They sell millions of albums every year, collects hundreds of millions of dollars of merchandise in sales and, most impressively, continue to gain new fans with every generation of music fans who come up. It doesn’t matter if you are 10 or 100, there is a good chance you at least like one Beatles song.

Billboard Magazine’s Jerry Wexler is given credit for coining the term rhythm and blues in 1948. The history of R&B music goes back a bit further, however.

R&B music was born from the migration of African Americans to urban areas of Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles and other cities in the 1930s. Rhythm and Blues is the child of jazz and blues, which became more popular in the ’30s. Louis Jordan, Roy Brown and Billy Wright were some of the forerunners of R&B music, recording songs that reportedly had a “grittier” feel to them than jazz and blues songs previously recorded. Paul Williams had the number one R&B hit in 1949, with “The Huckle-Buck”, which stayed number one for the entire year.

R&B has evolved since it first was introduced in the 1940s. From it’s inception to the 1950s, R&B was mostly used to label blues records. After that, R&B was to include gospel songs and “electric blues” music. During the ’70s, R&B was used to label records as funk, and the ’80s brought about a newer style of R&B music.

The history of R&B music has an eclectic past, being born out of jazz and blues and migrating its way into popular music today. Only time will tell, for music lovers everywhere, what will come next for R&B music.

Best of anything, is always very subjective, and normally causes much debate. However Top Rock Music For 2011, encompasses some music from an eclectic group of artists. The group Foo Fighters, put released the single, ‘Walk’ to raves from many quarters, the Foo Fighters, have been around awhile, and continuously are able to put out new exciting music, that never disappoints their fan base.

The band, Cage The Elephant, released the song, ‘Shake me Down’ in 2011. It’s a song that is symbolic of a nostalgic journey so to speak, and it’s song that speaks to memories, and is vibrant and alive. A band coming from the Indie musical horizon, is considered by many to have earned their way onto the list of Top Rock Music for 2011 is, Foster the People.

They have been eloquently speaking to the present generation with impressive music, like their current single, ‘Pumped Up Kicks’. More along the lines of folk rock, is the 4 man group of Mumford & Sons, they are churning out very artistic music and new types of sounds, their lasted single, ‘The Cave’ is setting off all kinds of great reviews and accolades from many critics and fans. Any list of best Rock anything would not be complete without the band, The Black Keys’ Their current single is, ‘Howlin For You’. It doesn’t disappoint, and the video that accompanied this song, is one that generated a lot of attention in 2011, for it’s high tech fight scenes, it’s a must see.

Jazz is the music that makes you feel good. Jazz is the sound that makes you reflect on your life and what it means. The “History of Jazz Music” takes you back to your beginnings. Historically 1890 is the year jazz was born in New Orleans but a closer look will reveal the “History of Jazz Music” actually began to emerge within the slavery error.

The Creoles were the offspring of slave owners and slaves. Their lighter complexion afforded them privileges not share by traditional slaves. They were allowed to live on the property and received forms of education in the arts that included music. As a result Creoles poured their heart and soul into music that expressed what they saw and what they experienced. The music was expressed in an extremely soulful manner. The sound was widely enjoyed by all races and as centuries past jazz sparked a flame of reflection.

Jazz music successfully integrated the races enjoyed by all. As modes of transportation became more popular jazz found yet another mode showing up on boats and trains again successfully crossing racial lines. As African Americans migrated North between 1910-1940 jazz music made its way to the northern surface fueled by poverty and racial issues. Moving forward jazz is fueled by social issues such as segregation of schools, blacks voting and march for freedom. The sound of jazz is said to have evolved into a more soulful form of expression as the movement of oppression evolved among African Americans.

A Brief History of Rock and Roll

The history of Rock and Roll music began in the United States. Elements of most types of American music found its way into Rock and Roll including Jazz, Blues, Gospel, and Country. Both African-American and white American music went into what became Rock and Roll. Like the United States itself, its new form of music was a melting pot of styles.

It is hard to say what the first Rock and Roll song was because elements of what became true Rock and Roll were heard as early as the 30′s and 40′s. Jitterbug music like “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” had sounds of Rock and Roll music.

The 1950s brought both Elvis Presley and Chuck Berry onto the scene. The guitar became the lead instrument with Chuck Berry. He was the first of the Rock and Roll musician to compose his own music with hits like iconic “Johnny B. Goode.” Berry was the first African-American musician to gain popularity with white teenagers. Elvis brought “sexy” to the music with gyrations that brought notoriety to his Rockabilly style.

By the late 1950s, the British had caught on to the new music. Bill Haley’s “Rock Around the Clock” became a hit in the United Kingdom before it did in the United States. By the 1960s, the British invaded the United States with their own brand of Rock and Roll with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. Where would the history of Rock and Roll be without the British influence? With these new bands, Rock and Roll was definitely here to stay.
